Concert of attention / tell me about happiness
Rain on the kitchen table

Through some of the windows of the indoor pool hall in Berlin Steglitz one can see single pine trees. There is a motorway in the background and one can also hear the noise of cars quickly driving past.
Small pine woods and lakes are part of the natural landscape in Berlin. They are considered to be important recreational areas for the inhabitants.
The picture used for this installation was made in a nature park in Pommern. The pines growing there are characteristic for this landscape. A sizzling hot plate in my flat in Berlin triggered a set of tiny memories. The hearing neutralised the chronology.
Elements of the installation:
Sound: Rain drops that fall onto fabric, the sound of water meeting a hot metal board, sound recordings of the ocean in the afternoon hours
Image: Light, pine wood
Several aspects of an idea:
Memories of happiness:
Sizzling hot plate and fragments of my memories:
it rains onto the kitchen table
onto the tent
onto old pines and sand
onto a lake at the sea
Memories of vigilance:
Sizzling hot plate and a book:
a voice with the request from Chani:
“Tell me more about the waters of your home planet, Usul.“
During the sixties Frank Herbert describes the alarming vision of a desert planet. He dedicates his novel “Dune” to the “ecologists of countries without water”.
Today topics on climate warming and water resources appear on the agenda.
